Dr. Carl S. Goodman | Legislator Dominick S. Thorne’s Honoree
Dr. Carl S. Goodman, DO, FACEP, the Chief Medical Officer of Port Jefferson EMS, has an extensive background in emergency medicine and EMS. Initially a volunteer member, he joined in 2000 and has since become a pivotal figure within the organization. Dr. Goodman holds board certifications in both Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services, being among the first in the county to attain the latter. Along with a strong educational background from institutions like the University of Maryland, and George Washington University, Dr. Goodman has been at the forefront of implementing innovative EMS programs at PJEMS.
He has played a key role in developing various EMS programs, including Mobile Integrated Health, rapid sequence intubation, high-performance CPR, and the rescue medic program. Dr. Goodman actively participates in patient care, education and even makes house calls. His past roles include certification as a paramedic, chairing various EMS committees, and serving in disaster response teams.
He has received recognition for his contributions, including awards for excellence in EMS. Dr. Goodman is dedicated to serving his community and finds fulfillment in helping individuals during their most challenging times.
