Two Summer EMT Programs Announced!
Port Jefferson EMS would like to announce two upcoming Summer EMT Original courses. The courses will be held at the Dr. Mitchell C. Pollack Center for EMS Education, beginning the week of June 12th, 2017. The first course will be Monday & Wednesday from 0800-1600, while the second, will run Monday-Thursday evenings, from 1800-2200. The two courses take the August 17th, 2017 examination. The instructors for the courses include Justin Krause, as well as Vincent Olivieri.
The Emergency Medical Technician course will prepare the EMT student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages, with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include, but not limited to, an introduction to the emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, and trauma. In addition, students will learn about special consideration for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation.
