
Two Fall EMT Programs Announced!
Port Jefferson EMS would like to announce two upcoming Fall EMT Original courses. The courses will be held at the Dr. Mitchell C. Pollack Center for EMS Education, beginning the week of September 18th, 2017. The first course will be Monday & Wednesday evenings from 1800-2200, and Saturday mornings 0800-1200. The second course will run Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 1800-2200, and Saturday afternoons 1230-1630. The two courses take the December 21st, 2017 New York State examination. The instructor for the courses will be Justin Krause.
The Emergency Medical Technician course will prepare the EMT student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages, with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include, but not limited to, an introduction to the emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, and trauma. In addition, students will learn about special consideration for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation.
