Port Jeff Elementary School Learns – Stop The Bleed
On May 3rd, Port Jefferson EMS had the opportunity to teach staff from The Edna Louise Spear Elementary School bleeding control. Recent events show the importance of this skill, especially for those in the school system. Bleeding control helps staff members in the event of an emergency, teaching them to stop the bleeding from a life threatening wound. Regardless of the cause, someone suffering from an uncontrolled bleed can perish within five to ten minutes. The Stop The Bleed Campaign works to help educate and teach the everyday person to help during an emergency. For more information on The Stop The Bleed Campaign, please visit bleedingcontrol.org
