At the New York State EMS Vital Signs Conference in Buffalo, on October 27th, Port Jefferson EMS had the honor of receiving an innovation award from The New York State Department of Health Bureau of EMS. This year, for the first time, NYS-DOH wanted to spotlight some of the innovations occurring in EMS organizations all over the state. Innovation awards were given in clinical delivery, education, organizational change, and recruitment and retention.
Port Jefferson EMS has had great success in recruiting EMTs to serve the community and was awarded in the recruitment & retention category. Chief Stoessel and Deputy Chief Presta attended the conference and were excited to receive the award on behalf of the entire organization.
