Third Summer EMT Program Announced!
Port Jefferson EMS would like to announce the third summer EMT original course. The course will be held at the Dr. Mitchell C. Pollack Center for EMS Education, beginning the week of June 12th, 2017. The course will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 0800-1600. The course will take the August 17th, 2017 examination. The instructors for the course will be Justin Krause and Vincent Olivieri.
The Emergency Medical Technician course will prepare the EMT student to provide pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages, with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include, but not limited to, an introduction to the emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, and trauma. In addition, students will learn about special consideration for working in the pre-hospital setting, and providing patient transportation.
