This week, Port Jefferson EMS joins EMS agencies across the country in recognizing National EMS Week, a time dedicated to honoring the men and women who provide emergency medical care in communities nationwide. EMS Week was established in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to recognize EMS professionals and celebrate the vital role they play in healthcare and public safety.
This year’s EMS Week theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” reflects the increasingly advanced and impactful role EMS providers play in modern medicine. Today’s EMS professionals do far more than transport patients — they deliver advanced clinical care, make critical decisions in dynamic environments, provide public education, and directly influence patient outcomes before a patient ever reaches the hospital.
At Port Jefferson EMS, our volunteers and career providers work together every day to deliver high-quality emergency medical care to the communities we serve. Whether responding to medical emergencies, supporting community events, participating in public health initiatives, or mentoring the next generation of EMS professionals, our members remain committed to excellence in patient care and service.
EMS Week also serves as an important reminder of the responsibility we all share in supporting the future of the profession. Investing in education, mentorship, wellness, and professional development helps ensure EMS remains strong, sustainable, and prepared to meet the evolving needs of our communities.
We extend our sincere gratitude to every member of the Port Jefferson EMS team for their dedication, compassion, professionalism, and service. Your commitment makes a difference every single day.
Happy EMS Week from all of us at Port Jefferson EMS.
