Fall 2026 EMT Courses – Now Enrolling!

Port Jefferson EMS is pleased to offer two schedule options for our Fall 2026 Emergency Medical Technician course. Both programs include classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, CPR certification, examinations, practical-skills testing, and preparation for the New York State EMT certification process.

Monday, Friday & Saturday Course

Course begins: Monday, August 31, 2026
Course ends: Thursday, December 17, 2026

Regular schedule:

  • Mondays and Fridays: 6:00–10:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
  • Some dates and times vary; applicants should review the complete course schedule.

The first class includes course orientation, required paperwork, document collection, and respirator fit testing. Students must be clean-shaven for fit testing.

Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday Course

Course begins: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Course ends: Thursday, December 17, 2026

Regular schedule:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:00–10:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 12:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Some dates and times vary; applicants should review the complete course schedule.

The first class includes course orientation, required paperwork, document collection, and respirator fit testing. Students must be clean-shaven for fit testing.

Course Content

Students will receive instruction and practical training in:

  • EMS operations, communications, documentation, and medical-legal considerations
  • Patient assessment, airway management, and pharmacology
  • Medical, cardiovascular, respiratory, neurologic, psychiatric, and toxicologic emergencies
  • Trauma, bleeding control, spinal injuries, orthopedic injuries, and patient movement
  • Pediatric, geriatric, obstetric, neonatal, and special-needs patient care
  • Ambulance operations, vehicle extrication, incident management, terrorism response, and disaster operations
  • CPR and required EMT psychomotor skills

Class space is limited. Prospective students should select the schedule they can attend consistently for the entire program. Review the complete schedule carefully before enrolling, as attendance is essential to successful course completion.
