Port Jefferson EMS is hosting a New York State Safe Powerboating Course next week, starting Monday, May 11th. This 8-hour course covers the basics of boat operation, legal requirements, and basic emergency procedures. This course is free; students over the age of 18 will pay 10 dollars directly to New York State for their permanent card. Students under the age of 18 receive their permanent card for free, and it is good for a lifetime!

New York State requires this course or its equivalent for all powerboat operators and Jet Ski Operators in NYS.
